Following Brexit, the UK applies import duties and VAT on goods arriving from the EU. From January 2025, FedEx will directly apply GST (Goods and Services Tax) or VAT (Value-Added Tax) in accordance with local regulations in your region.
What this means for you:
- GST/VAT will now be charged directly to you at the point of importation.
- The amount will correspond to 20% of the total commercial value of the goods.
How to Pay:
- FedEx will contact you during customs clearance to arrange payment.
- Payment options include cash on delivery or credit card.
- FedEx will issue an official receipt once payment is completed.
For VAT-Registered Businesses:
If you are VAT-registered in the UK, you may be eligible to reclaim the VAT paid at import by submitting form VAT431, along with proof of payment (C79 certificate). We recommend consulting your tax advisor for further details.
