If the subject is very close to the edge of the photograph, we recommend that you position the image away from the margin of the page to prevent important parts (e.g. the head or feet) from being cut off.
Pay even closer attention to this rule when you duplicate the design to purchase smaller copies (e.g. albums for the bride and groom’s parents). The trim margin remains fixed at 7 mm, which appears wider in a smaller duplicate. In this example, we can see how the 7 mm trim margin on the 8x8" size (duplicate of a 12x12") would bring the subject’s head closer to the edge on which the page’s trim can be applied.
If you want to purchase smaller duplicates of a product, we suggest that you design the main Album or Event Book by keeping the subjects well away from the trim margin, to ensure an optimal result even on the smallest duplicates. Avoid positioning photos on the trim margin or within the area it delimits: as you cannot be sure of the exact point where the page will be trimmed, this could cause unsightly, narrow borders that are visible in the printed product.
We recommend that you position the photo up to the edge of the spread or at least 1.5 cm from the trim margin, so that you always achieve a quality result.
